Elders & Deacons

Elders

Harvest DeSoto will be an elder-led church. Elder leadership is the model we see prescribed for our benefit by Scripture. The elder-led approach provides us with sound guidance, leadership and pastoral care from biblically-qualified men. All of the elders are pastors of the congregation, who also meet regularly to pray and provide spiritual oversight on matters concerning the church. Although some of our elders are employed by the church, the majority work in secular jobs. All elders meet the stated qualifications for this office, as laid out in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Deacons

The deacons of Harvest DeSoto fill supportive roles as they coordinate the various ministries relating to the physical needs of the congregation. Each deacon oversees a particular church ministry, thus freeing the elders to provide spiritual oversight to the church. At their discretion, the deacons can gather volunteers in support of their work. In their service to the church, the deacons compose serving schedules, direct activities, and communicate specific needs within their ministry context to the congregation. On any given Sunday, deacons may be found ushering, preparing communion, or serving with children among many other activities.
